Using the Power of Colour in Sports Branding.

Using the Power of Colour in Sports Branding.

Introduction

The importance of colour in visual communication is that the colour can induce emotions and perception. The colour that Nike and Adidas employ in their brands is strategic.

Nike's Colour Strategy

Nike has a tendency of incorporating black and white colours in designs. These colours are symbolic of power, professionalism and simplicity. The colour palette is kept to a minimum as well which emphasises on the modern style of the brand.

Adidas' Colour Strategy

Adidas employs black and white quite often, but there are cases when it also employs some other colour in its products and campaigns. This will allow the brand to stay flexible and still have a familiar identity.

Conclusion

Colour preferences are used by the two brands to ensure that they produce visual impressions and convey their brand personalities.
